1. Medical Disclaimer & Contraindications
Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy and is not a replacement for professional medical diagnosis or treatment. Your safety is paramount.
Absolute Contraindications (Services Cannot Be Provided): I cannot provide hypnotherapy if you have been diagnosed with any of the following:
Psychosis or psychotic disorders
Schizophrenia
Pathological personality disorders
Severe cognitive impairment / advanced dementia
Conditional Services (Doctor’s Approval Required): If you suffer from epilepsy, narcolepsy, clinical depression, asthma, or a heart condition, you must provide written approval from your general practitioner (GP) or specialist prior to your first session.
2. Confidentiality & Data Protection (GDPR Compliance)
Privacy: All information disclosed during our sessions remains strictly confidential.
Supervision: To maintain professional standards, I discuss clinical work with a qualified supervisor. All client details are fully anonymized during supervision.
Exceptions to Confidentiality: Confidentiality may be breached only where legally mandated or permitted by law, specifically:
If there is a substantial risk of serious harm to yourself or others.
If required by court order or statutory obligation (e.g., terrorism, money laundering, or child protection disclosures).
Whenever feasible, any necessary disclosure will be discussed with you first.
Data Storage: Brief session notes and contact details are stored securely in compliance with UK GDPR / Data Protection regulations. You have the right to request access to or deletion of your personal data in accordance with my Privacy Policy.
Public & Social Boundaries: To protect your privacy, if we meet outside of sessions, I will not initiate contact unless you acknowledge me first. Dual relationships (e.g., social friendships or secondary business relationships) are avoided to maintain professional boundaries.
3. Physical Contact
Some hypnotherapy techniques may involve gentle, non-intrusive touch (e.g., tapping or lifting a wrist).
4. False Memory Acknowledgment
Therapeutic processes may occasionally bring forward memories or impressions of past events. You acknowledge that hypnosis-induced recall carries a risk of generating false memories, and such recollections should not be viewed as absolute historical fact.
5. Cancellation, Punctuality & Termination Policy
Cancellation Notice: A minimum of 48 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice will incur the full session fee.
Late Arrival: Sessions will end at the scheduled time regardless of arrival time, and the full fee applies.
Substance Use: If you attend a session under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed mind-altering substances, the session will be immediately terminated, and the full fee charged.
Therapist Discretion: I reserve the right to decline service, terminate therapy, or refer you to an appropriate medical specialist if it is deemed in your best therapeutic interest.
